Organic Aftercare
· Be mindful when wearing organic jewelry. Braindrops accepts no liability for the use or misuse of our products, nor do we make any claim about the suitability of our product for any usage or application. Organic materials should be worn in healed piercings ONLY.

·Organic jewelry should not be used for (but is not limited to):
-fresh piercings
-freshly stretched piercings
-tongue piercings
-genital piercings

·The misuse of organic jewelry can result in (but is not limited to):
-skin irritation
-infections
-allergic reactions
-swelling of the area
-damage to tissue

organic jewelryIn conjunction with these points we recommend paying attention to your body and responding accordingly to any signs of irritation.

· Our jewelry is not shipped sterile.

· Please wash new jewelry before use with antibacterial or antimicrobial soap such as Provon, Satin, or Liquid Dial. Please be sure to wash your hands before handling jewelry.

· Jewelry should be oiled prior to use with jojoba (highly recommended), mineral, vitamin e, or olive oil and reapplied as needed. Food grade oils, such as olive, may breakdown over time. Wash natural jewelry occasionally and reapply oil if necessary. Natural materials may darken from oil (including the skins natural oils).

· Natural materials should not be subjected to these conditions including (but not limited to):
-steam sterilization (commonly referred to as autoclaving)
-extreme changes in environment (i.e. temperature, humidity)
-water (regular or chlorinated)
-extended exposure to sunlight

By mistreating your organic jewelry you compromise the appearance and structural integrity of the material.

· Organic jewelry should not contact any chemical agents such as but not limited to:
-cosmetic products (i.e. lotion, hair spray or styling agents)
-cleaning products

Organic jewelry can absorb chemicals and other by products, which can irritate the skin.

· Amber is especially sensitive. The improper treatment of amber can ruin its visual appearance and structural integrity. Because it is a resin, amber can melt when exposed to chemicals. Extreme heat as well as exposure to the sun can compromise the quality of amber. In some cases amber can oxidize and darken.

· When possible do not bathe or swim in your jewelry. Many a swimming outing is responsible for lost jewelry. Keeping jewelry out of water will extend the life and beauty of your jewelry.

· Organic jewelry should be treated with care. Jewelry can be damaged or broken if dropped, chewed, or manipulated.

· Do not let wood jewelry come in contact with water. It can change the wearing surface due to the expansion of the wood grain. Hardwood jewelry can be sanded as needed (due to natural wear and tear). To return the smooth wearing surface to your wood jewelry lightly sand with a high grit sandpaper (600 grit or above). Buff with a clean piece of soft cloth. Wash with water and one of the soaps recommended above and re-apply oil before use.
